April usually brings a huge push of steelhead into the Grand River. These fish do not stick around like the fall and winter fish, they come in and move upstream fast to wherever they will spawn. The dam areas such as 6th Street Dam or Webber is where you will want to concentrate on the Grand.
If you do not feel like fishing the mainstream of the Grand you can find these fish in the tributaries as well. Try fishing egg imitations, jigs, or hardware and you should catch fresh run fish on their way up as well as dropbacks that have already spawned.
