Gulf Shores Fishing Report: Sept 2013

Well folks, school has started and football is in the air. The fishing is still going strong. The rains have not managed to mess up the fishing too much. The trout are finished their spawning and are on the move up the bay feeding on the shrimp working their way up the rivers. The specks are starting to transition to the Eastern Shore reefs and the inshore structure. The reds have been showing up around the rocks of the Grand Hotel, along with some flounder. The specks also should be feeding under the birds this time of year. This is my favorite time to go catch some trout. A sparkle beetle under a NO SLACK TACKLE popping cork makes a deadly combination for the trout. You may also find some hungry reds amongst them. The trout are still falling for the old reliable live shrimp. Scott’s Landing has been loaded with some nice shrimp all summer. So, gas the boat and let’s go fill the cooler and have a fish fry and watch some football. Hope to see ya on the water!!
