[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his month brings loads of possibilities with the changes in weather patterns and fish movement. The big drum will stay around at a minimum until full moon, when they will spawn out and then it depends on temperature changes as to how fast they exit – the action may extend into the first of October, as it has several times in recent history. Find these beasts on ledges by soaking fresh mullet during day or night, or by throwing a DOA Popping Cork around, fitted with a DOA Airhead. Please use big enough gear to get them in without harm to the fish.

There will also be plenty of trout, slot drum and maybe a legal flounder along the river shore. As the water cools, the movement will be marked by fish heading to creek mouths and further as the year progresses. You can get these on a DOA Deadly Combo, casting and snatching, then letting the shrimp fall. DOA CAL baits fitted on jig heads, popping them along the bottom will also produce. Hard plastics such as Storm Twitching Stick will also work well when twitched through the water column.
