Kingfish in the shallows

Frustrated Amateurs caught this Kingfish in Dodge wall 88ft of water.

We fished the palm beach KDW classic over the weekend. Friday night the captain, Alfredo Miranda, made the call that we would fish between the breakers and palm beach inlet. We powered our Yamaha's and pushed the Contender through the inlet and headed south to catch our first drift. Playing the tides we started shallow (90 fertile). We put out a spread of gogs on the flatlines and a speedo off each downrigger. Within 10 minutes the Accurate on the short downrigger started screaming and we knew it was a kingfish. We cranked everything up and chased the fish down to secure him before the sharks did. Deep color, a couple cranks and the marsh tacky gaff had him on the hook. We caught 3 more kings in the 20's and a couple throw backs along with 4 sailfish. The bite continues to be great offshore and although the fish are very spread out, there is plenty of action to keep the rods tight just outside our inlet.
