Just in time for the summer boating and tournament season, the acclaimed ‘no-yelling school of fishing’, Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing! lands on the Treasure Coast, May 18-20 at Pirates Cove Resort and Marina in Stuart.

This two-day ‘fishing university’ is designed to help women to either become an angler or to improve their fishing skills. Expert educators will demonstrate ethical angler habits, such as safe hook removal, release techniques, fish venting and more. And local fishing guides will provide instruction on fishing techniques and methods. Hands-on activities range from spin casting, gaffing grapefruits, cast netting, trailer backing and boat handling.

Activities launch Friday night with a networking ‘meet and greet’ starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, classroom presentations on offshore, bottom, inshore and fly fishing begin at 8 a.m., followed by lunch and hands-on fishing skills until 4:30 p.m.

To reinforce the ‘land’ training, an optional on-the-water fishing adventure is offered on Sunday, which will be followed by a fish filet demonstration.

Registration starts at $99 for the first 20 ladies to sign up, then $135 afterwards. The fee includes instruction, use of equipment, hands-on training, networking reception, meals and goody bags. The Sunday Fishing Adventure, with tackle and bait provided, is additional (options range from $55 up to $140). No equipment or experience is necessary.
