Local Production Company, Bluewater Media Makes Waves in the Fight Against Ocean Pollution By: CAM Staff

Clearwater, FL- Bluewater Media, a Clearwater based advertising and marketing firm is helping our oceans through their client work.

The company, noted for its success in producing direct response commercials for well-known brands such as Phillips, Thundershirt, Blackstone Grills, Greenworks and more has also had a history of working to help the environment. Earlier this year, they produced a commercial for 4Ocean, an organization dedicated to ocean clean up that sells bracelets made from recycled ocean waste to fund the continued removal of trash from the ocean. Just a few years ago, they helped to edit and produce famed fisherman, artist and conservationist Guy Harvey’s television series Portraits from the Deep.

Back in October, Bluewater got the call from their SodaStream client to help document ocean, mangrove and shore clean up in Roatán, Honduras. The goal was to capture and share the volume of ocean waste and the affect that single use plastics have on the environment. “We can’t clean up all the plastic waste on the planet, but we each need to do whatever we can. The most important thing is to commit ourselves to stop using single-use plastic”, exclaimed SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum. SodaStream products, by design, help consumers reduce the number of single use plastics by enabling them to produce their own soda and sparkling water right at home.

“When we were presented the opportunity to go with SodaStream to work in RoatĂĄn, Honduras we jumped at it, we love helping our clients make a positive environmental impact. Admittedly, it seemed SodaStream was taking on a daunting task–the amount of trash and plastic waste was sickening”, said Bluewater Media’s President of Production Rob Fallon.

Fallon continued, “actually seeing the problem first hand was life-changing, we have to change the way we live, and we have to understand the waste single use plastics creates”.

Fallon concluded saying, “although the clean-up effort only made a small dent in the mess, the documenting and sharing of the problem can shock, educate and impact others to change their habits; we’re proud to work with a company as courageous as SodaStream, they’re leading the change and providing an environmentally responsible solution.” Currently the video documenting the cleanup effort has reached nearly 1 million views on Facebook alone.

SodaStream’s clean-up delegation included 150 SodaStream executives from 45 countries, international environmental specialists, NGO Plastic Soup Foundation and hundreds of children from seven different local schools with local Honduran government officials. The children also received educational sessions from environmental experts to become ambassadors for the environment within their community.
