That’s the sales pitch that we have all come to know and expect but what’s the real deal? Is this Gulp stuff really as good as they say? This year we had the chance to try several Gulp Salt Water products and without sounding too much like the Gulp salesman of the year, I’ll never go on a trip without it ever again.
The 4 inch swimming mullets have to be one of the top performing baits for big fluke and cod that we’ve used to date. On a recent cod trip we took out of Snug Harbor, we casually hooked the swimming mullets while others used the tried and true clam strips.
While both produced fish during the frenzy, when things slowed down as they always do, we continued to hammer fish after others had already racked their rods. Talk with the fluke sharpies and they will tell you what they turn to when the bite is slow. You can take this to the bank; I will never be without Gulp in the tackle box ever again.
