LURE OF THE MONTH: YAMAMOTO SWIM SENKO

YAMAMOTO-SWIM-SENKO

What do you get when you combine an effective finesse worm with that of a paddle tailed swim bait, you get the Yamamoto Swim Senko, a bass catching machine. The original Senko worm is a finesse style bait that is a favorite with anglers all over the world. When you add a paddle tail profile to the bait it becomes a seductive bait for all conditions. When fished without a weight the bait falls horizontally with a side to side tail action. When rigged Texas style the lure rises and falls in the water column with a much higher degree of action and flutter making it a great presentation for dark stain waters. If you use a weighted hook then you have a slimline swim bait to drag through submerged grass beds, hydrilla patches as well as open lily pads and hyacinths.

The Yamamoto Swim Senko is available in a wide assortment of colors and five sizes from 3.5-inch up to 5.5- inch for select colors. Being that the salt impregnated plastic is soft, when fishing vegetation I like to secure the bait with an Owner TwistLock to increase the durability and minimize hook tearing created by the forces of dragging the bait through the weeds. Yamamoto Swim Senkos are available at most local bait & tackle shops, online retailers, and a few major box stores.

I once bought a package of Swim Senkos at a close-out sale and they have since become one of my go-to baits.
