Manistee Fishing Report: June 2015

Paul Schf

W e have been catching a good number of brown trout and lake trout along the shoreline in about 10-20 feet of water. Some kings have been starting to show up, and they are running about 8-14 pounds. Spoons have been the most productive on two and three color lead. Some Rapalas have been working on flat lines as well. In the next two to three weeks, the water should start to warm up, and more kings should start to show up. The pier heads and the shelf (100-200 feet of water) should produce some good kings and trout. Spoons and flashers should be the most productive baits. Fishing lead core and Dipsy Divers and down riggers.

June should produce good number of trout in deep water fishing the upper 50 feet of the water with spoons for trout. We look for good temperature breaks where the trout will hang out. Super Slim Dream Weaver Spoons work great on these breaks in June and are my most productive baits while trolling at a fast speed, 2.5 to 3.5 mph. June can be one of the best months to fish so get out and give it a try. Good luck on the water.
