I will try to stay positive with this fishing forecast for November but all the dirty water pouring out of locks is killing fish in our backyard. Places I fish in the St. Lucie River are almost void of all fish. No birds, no baitfish, no predator fish. Most of the snook have moved out into the cleaner water around the St. Lucie Inlet and north of the Jensen Causeway. The Sailfish flat on a high tide has had a good redfish bite on the edges of the troughs and cuts. D.O.A. CAL shad # 408 has been our go to color for the water conditions. Most of the reds are in slot with a few over slot. A lot of trout have been caught on the east side due to the wind protection. Bear Point to the north end of Herman’s Bay has been productive. Topwater plugs like Skitterwalks at first light is a good wake up bait for gator trout this time of year. Remember trout season is closed this month, so it’s catch and release. Spanish mackerel will be in the surf and hanging around the inlets on the higher tides. Anything green and shiny will put fish in the box. Blues will readily attack a shiny spoon or cut bait fished on the bottom. At this time we have not seen the winter croaker or weakfish transition to the rocky/sandy rubble around the bridges. When they show up, a jig and shrimp combo bounced along the bottom will do the trick.

Keep the waterway clean and don’t forget to wear your Bullfrog.
