Inshore action should be hot this month along with the weather. The summer pattern of fishing early before the bite shuts down should be a priority. The flats will be alive with big trout and reds at first light. East side with the mangroves or west side with the docks, fishing with a topwater “walk the dog” style plug will get their attention. Clear water conditions and fishing pressure means to go stealth and it helps to have a long cast. Redfish have been on both sides of river and love a gold spoon or root beer D.O.A. C.A.L. Be adventurous and fish at night on the flats during a full moon and I guarantee you will come back with a good fish story. Snook will be in the inlets so handle the big girls with TLC before release. Check the channel markers for tripletail with a shrimp tipped jig. Big jacks should be in the green water off the beach and for fun, throw a topwater plug at them and hang on! Remember, keep the waterways clean and wear your Bullfrog.
