Fishing out of Stuart, Florida continues to be red hot on the bottom and it’s only going to get better both here locally and in the Bahamas over the next four to five weeks. Grouper and snapper action will peak during the next full moon. Mutton snapper will make a strong showing anywhere on the Bahama Bank and on the shallow reefs south of the St. Lucie Inlet down past Jupiter Inlet. Patience pays for this type of fishing but the rewards are extraordinary. Muttons will most commonly range in weights from 6 to 15 pounds. Big chunks of dead bait work best along with patience.

Blue and white marlin fishing will peak in the Stuart area, as well as in the closest Bahamas Islands to Stuart. Chub Cay in the Berry’s, Grand Cay, Grand Bahama, Abaco and Bimini are all awesome locations to get in on some great spring billfish action. You can expect good to great dolphin fishing both around these islands and off the coast of Stuart, Florida. Dolphin are much bigger during the spring than the winter and encounters with 40-plus pound fish are common. Blackfin tuna make a strong showing in both regions also over the next four to six weeks with some really nice fish caught in both areas. It is prime yellowfin tuna time for the northwestern most Bahamas and it is not uncommon for some big fish to be caught out of the St. Lucie Inlet in local waters. However, there is a lot of luck needed to accomplish this because most fish outclass the tackle on a local level.

The bottom line is whether you like the Bahamas or Florida fishing, bottom fishing or trolling for pelagics, this is the time of year for you. So fuel up, ice up and go and catch some fish.
