More Than Just a Girl Posing with a Shark
By Keri Carlo
‘I grew up fishing. Living on a pond, I thought I was killing it catching sunfish, bullhead, and bass. When I got my license, I really started focusing on largemouth, smallmouth, and pickerel. Four years ago, I was introduced to a whole new world of fishing. I learned A LOT. Different rigs, different reels, different leaders for different fish, bait runners, what hooks to use for certain fish, etc. I started fishing for pike, carp, channel catfish, striper, bowfin, halibut and cod in Alaska. Landing this shark was an experience I will always be grateful for. It was a lot of trial and error, learning from mistakes, finding the right gear, etc. I’ve put the time, money, and patience in. I’ve found my passion in this sport, and it will always be the biggest part of my life. I have a lot to learn, mistakes to be made I’m sure, and way more fish to catch. I’m more than just a girl posing with a shark, and I know I’m not the only female that has a story to tell.’
