Muskegon Fishing Report: Sept. 2014

Well, just in the last four days, Mr. King Salmon decided to show up in the port of Muskegon. We were starting to get a little worried after two temperature flips to 41-degree surface temperatures. Well, the third time was a charm apparently because we hit big numbers of four-year-old salmon the past few days. I’m not sure why it took them so long to show themselves, but I guess that doesn’t matter as it looks like we will have a good run of fish filtering into the river in the next few weeks.

It is looking like the kings will not be as big as they have been the past few years because the largest king we have caught on either of our charter boats this year has been 24 pounds. We have had a decent number of fish around the 18 pound mark but very few over that. As the month goes on look for the mature salmon to start blasting up the rivers. If you are looking to get in on some of the most exciting fishing freshwater has to offer contact Great Lakes Guide Service today. We have multiple guides and boats for most of our local rivers that connect into Lake Michigan. We specialize in river salmon charters casting stick baits and fishing cured skein under floats working daily.
