Muskegon Fishing Report: June 2014

lakemichigan-fishingreport

Fishing on Lake Michigan has really heated up over the past few weeks. We are seeing good numbers of king salmon, some of which are tipping the scale at 20 pounds. Our best fishing has been in 25-50 feet of water while fishing high in the water column. 3, 5, 7 colors of lead core, 25, 50, 75 copper, divers back 50 feet and riggers down 15-25 feet all pulling very bright colored stinger spoons (many in UV) has been our standard program.

On most years June is considered to be the slowest fishing of the summer months, but with everything running at least a few weeks behind this year, I would expect to see the fishing to continue to be good most of the month. With the Great Lakes remaining as cold as they are now, we will be looking for that 50-55 degree water to find the active fish.
