November Forecast for Offshore/Pelagics

November is a time for giving thanks.

We should all be thankful for being able to enjoy what the ocean and the outdoors bring us each year. I know I am, what about you?

As the fall weather sets in, the fish tend to feed like there’s no tomorrow which is what makes the fall fishing off of our coast legendary! Even though the kings haven’t shown up this year like they usually do, the wahoos are doing their thing, as usual. The wahoo bite this fall has been very, very good so far. Medium and large ballyhoo skirted and naked on wire are catching the majority of the fish, but don’t rule out high speed lures or pulling Yo-Zuri bonitas in Black/Orange or Black/Purple for the toothy critters as well.  There are still some scattered mahi and even a few blackfins in the mix offshore as well. Most of the billfish have made their trek south, but there should be some white marlin and sailfish still around feeding on the schools of baits that are holding on the offshore ledges right now. The weather is cooling, but the fish aren’t gone yet. Put on a few more layers of clothes and get back out there when the weather allows. I know the fall can bring some high winds, but make sure you take advantage of the calm days and enjoy it before winter sets in.
