The warm winter has been good and bad so far this year. The good part is it has been great weather to fish in, the bad part is that it has slowed down our big bass bite. Each year we look forward for a little cold air to help bring bigger fish in from the open lake so they can start their spawning cycle.Capt. Eddie PerryJan 29th, 2016
February is here and the Lake Okeechobee fishing is off the hook. We are catching huge numbers of bass and the size has been pretty good. Fish from three to six pound are coming to the boat as fast as you can reel them in and we have been mixing a few really big ones in to make this one of the best fishing destinations in the world. Recent rains have raised lake and stream levels considerably. The Peace River spiked by 5-ft this past week though it’s returning to normal levels quickly. Other streams such as Fisheating Creek and Arbuckle Creek also saw a major spike in flow rates. Okeechobee EditionJan 22nd, 2016
The recent cold weather and rain has cooled of lake temperatures and kicked started the winter patterns. The Crappie bite through-out the area is in full gear. You may have to search around to find a group of them but when you do, you’ll find the bite very active.Okeechobee EditionJan 14th, 2016
Gray skies and a chance of rain won’t stop this weekend’s fishing. The BFL Tournament is going out of C. Scott Driver this weekend and the King of the Glades is going out of Roland Martin’s on Sunday. Male bass have been steady in the beds and females are beginning to show up. These next few weeks should be good times for all local lakes. Okeechobee EditionJan 7th, 2016
For the first time in many weeks, the wind is supposedly going to cooperate this weekend and provide some nice fishing conditions. Take advantage of it while you can for Speck fishing has turned up a notch and in Lake Okeechobee the bigger males are coming onto the beds. Okeechobee EditionJan 1st, 2016
The Big-O is in its fall pattern right now, but winter is right around the corner. Water temperatures have been in the high 70s and low 80s which are great temperatures for catching just about everything on this lake. Bass fishing has been very good with live shiners, but very tough with artificials.Capt. Eddie PerryDec 30th, 2015
January is here and the bass on Okeechobee are really starting to turn on now that the water temperature is finally dropping a little. We are catching really good numbers from twenty to forty bass a day with a few really good ones mixed in from day to day. Capt. Mark KingDec 30th, 2015
Pompano, bluefish, jacks and Spanish mackerel become more of the focus in January. I like to target areas near the inlets like the mouth of the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter and Sailfish Flats in Stuart. Brian NelliDec 30th, 2015
Well fellow anglers for me it’s time for long johns and jig heads, must be winter time. No the long johns are not some hot new secret lure. Their main function is to keep this Florida boy warm. To me there’s nothing I hate more than being cold while I am out fishing. Jig heads come into play for me during the colder winter months when shrimp become the bait of choice. Capt.
