Three great budget firearms for the hunter.
Remington 870 Express, Beretta Outlander, and a Ruger All American 22. All will get the job done.

A lot of first timers get sticker shock when shopping for the gear they will need for their new hobby. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars. Almost every manufacturer of firearms and ammunition has budget lines of equipment, which can last someone their entire hunting or shooting career.

Ruger, Remington, Savage, and Marlin all have rifles at very competitive prices. You can get into a centerfire rifle for big hunting in the $500 range. The scope manufacturers have their optics priced competitively too. Leupold has their Freedom series and Nikon their Buckmaster series. Both will work well and last for decades to come.

Shotguns as well; Beretta has their Outlander series, which can be used from clays to ducks and everything in between. Remington has their Sportsman 1100 and their ever popular 870 in their express line. No fancy wood or metal finishes, but these will get the job done and those ducks, quail, rabbits and clay targets will not know the difference.

Don’t forget about used firearms.  Every dealer has a used selection, take advantage of it and see what comes in every couple of weeks.

You don’t need to spend $60 a box on 30/06 ammo either. There are plenty of choices in the $20 to $30 range. Shotgun shells and .22 Rimfire all have their budget line options.

So, look around, take your time, and I guarantee you will find the equipment you will need within your budget.
