Palm Beach Inshore & Offshore Report: April 2019

By Capt. Weston Russell, Contributing Writer

Welcome to the Coastal Angler Magazine fishing forecast for the waters off Singer Island, Palm Beach and Juno Beach.  April fishing is epic! The spring migration back to the north will take place and there will be a lot of reel screaming action. Gaffer dolphin will be on the top of my list. Finding the weed lines is a must. Trolling will be the method. Having a few wire baits out on a planer will give you a chance for a wahoo or monster dolphin. Bigger dolphins like deep water. There also could be a blue marlin in the mix… Good luck!

For the bottom fishing angler, expect good action. The muttons will be hungrier than normal getting ready for the spawn. Long leaders and light sinkers will work best. If you get a hard bite and then the line is racing to the surface, you may have a cobia on. Wind fast and get the BBW gaff; you’re eating good tonight! Another hot spot will be the deep water wrecks off Singer Island. Don’t forget to check them out if the reef bite is slow. They can be a day saver.

For the nearshore anglers the beach and inlet will hold tarpon in the 80lb range. Live sardines will catch them every time. Bring the big gun Daiwa combo for this action. You will need it. Good luck and tight lines!
