Perry J Cohen Foundation and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 59 to Offer Safe Boating Courses

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Perry J. Cohen Foundation, in conjunction with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 59, is pleased to announce that the Flotilla 59’s “About Boating Safety” course will be offered free, May 21, June 18, and July 16 at their facility in Sandsprit Park.

The fees for these one day classes are free based upon a generous donation from the Perry J. Cohen Foundation (PJCF) in memory of Perry Cohen, one of the two young men that were lost at sea last July. The PJCF is a 501(c) (3), established by Perry’s mother, Pamela Cohen, and his stepfather, Nicholas Korniloff. The mission of the foundation is to create awareness and education for all individuals around the enjoyment of recreational boating, fishing, and water sports. For more information, visit www.pjcf.org.

Each class is a one day in-depth boating safety class taught by experienced Coast Guard Auxiliary members. The class runs from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm on those days. Upon successful completion, the Florida Boating Safety Education I.D. Card will be issued. A $10 course fee (refunded upon completion) must be paid at registration. Register at www.flotilla59.org using your PayPal account. Seating is limited to 40.

Any person born on or after January 1, 1988, must have completed an approved Safe Boating Course to operate a vessel. It’s the law.
