Tom Houde caught this 44″ and 30.45 pounds Striped Bass in Narragansett Bay.
Marking plenty of fish, but they weren’t having and tube and worm this morning. Spot a small school of Menhaden and decide to cast a treble in there to live line a bunker. !st cast is a miss due to small school size…, 2nd cast and I snag a bunker…, dang thing makes a beeline towards me, I have to reel in to keep it tight and it jumps out of the water with a Striper hot on its tail fin…, I open the bail on my Shimani Baitrunner so it get deep, feel the line spooling off as the bunker dives…, I close the bail after a few seconds and BAM…, drag starts screaming and then I start to get towed for a ‘Gansett Bay sleigh ride, look at the Lowrance and see I’m moving at 2.7 knots being towed at an oblique angle. I know I’m into a good one. This fish ended up being used for my team total, Aquidneck Island Striper Team, September 2015, On The Water Striper Cup (*boat) and also helped me secure the 2015 AIST Kayak Angler of the Year.
