As we spring into the month of March, we have exciting news to share. Somehow, the stars aligned and the opportunity to acquire the Miami Franchise of Coastal Angler Magazine presented itself. Starting with the April issue, we will begin publishing the Miami Edition of the largest FREE fishing magazine in the country. Though we have a tremendous amount of work in front of us, we feel that the ability to leverage both markets will give us an edge that benefits both our advertisers and our readers. Miami and Fort Lauderdale share a similar fishery and we look forward to bringing some common editorial to life on the pages of both magazines.
March brings us some of the best fishing of the year. The sailfish bite will continue to be hot as these majestic fish migrate through our waters in big numbers. Live ballyhoo will be all over the shallow reefs and make great sailfish baits. When the strong east winds blow, be prepared with a fresh ballyhoo pitch bait on a stout spinning outfit to throw at slammer class dolphin. Bigger blackfin tunas will begin showing up in 100 to 300 feet, especially late in the afternoon. Live chum with pilchards and they will come right to your boat. Rig a few 20 pound spinning rods with 30 to 40 pound fluorocarbon and attach a 3/0 to 5/0 circle hook to the business end to have the best shot at some sashimi for dinner. Don’t forget the wasabi!
Keep reelin,
