This month I would like to wish all the Moms out there a Very Happy Mother’s Day! On May 12th, do something special for the Moms in your life. Take them to brunch or take them fishing. Let them know how much they mean to you and thank them for all they do. Though this Mother’s Day will be the tenth without my Mom, there are several Moms that give me reason to be thankful. My wife Kim is an amazing Mom to our two boys. We would be lost without her. My sister Tracie raised twins, one with major health issues as a single Mom. My stepmom Abi does her best to get our family together as often as possible and always has an understanding ear and words of encouragement when needed. Thank you Kim, Tracie and Abi!
Now that we have the mushy stuff out of the way, it;’s time to slay some grouper! The season officially opens on May 1st. The bite should be red hot since they haven’t been targeted for the last four months. Drop a live bait or slab of bonito to the bottom, near one of our local wrecks and hold on. Based on the number of dolphin that were caught in the last few months, the action should only get better. You may have to run a bit further offshore, but you will be rewarded if you are prepared with fresh bait in your spread. Don’t forget the blackfin tuna. Make sure you have a small jet head or feathered lure in your spread.
Keep reelin,
