From the Publisher – September 2019

The kids are back in school and snook season has opened back up. It must be September! Get your snook game in gear by going to see our good friend Mike at Reel Deal Bait & Tackle in Fort Lauderdale. When it comes to snook, his knowledge is hard to beat.

Offshore, the dolphin bite should be hot. It seems we are looking at a pattern similar to last year, when they really showed up late. You’ll have to get out early to have the best success before the surface temperatures get too hot. Make sure you have multiple ballyhoo, squid and strip baits rigged and ready to go. The last thing you want is to get on the bite and have to waste time re- rigging. Be sure to have some pre cut chunks of squid and ballyhoo to throw at the schoolies too. Success happens at the intersection of preparation and luck. You can’t control luck, but you certainly can be prepared.

While you peruse this month’s issue, please take special note of the advertisement for The Golden Reel Gala. Scheduled for October 18th, it’s the main fundraising event for Mission Fishin’. Mission Fishin’ is a local non profit organization founded by Tony and Alison Davis. Mission Fishin’ provides special needs children, their families and caregivers a break from daily hardships and stress through fishing. Mission Fishin’ relies upon volunteers and donations to make the wheel turn. Please consider purchasing a ticket or two to attend the Golden Reel Gala and support the wonderful cause of Mission Fishin’.

Keep reelin,
