Jerome L. Espiritu caught this 32 inch length and 20 inch girth, approx. weight 16lbs. Common Snook in Lehigh Acres, FL.
Caught this snook on a Rapala BX Minnow in a freshwater canal. The fish was right in the slot size to keep , but the season was closed for snook at that time so it was measured and released. The weight is approximate using the (G x G) x L/ 800= weight formula. The fish struck my lure on the first cast but missed it. On the second cast I slowed the retrieve down, the fish struck the lure again, and “Hana pa’a” (A “fish on” expression we use in Hawaii )! The fish came to hand after about 5 minutes. The canal is home to a few alligators so, with an ‘eye’ out for them, the fish was quickly “resuscitated” and released. The great thing is that I got the whole catch and release recorded on my GoPro!
