Skinny Water Report By: Derick Burgos & Natalie Manrique

With the winds gusting and making it tough to get good conditions to be on the water, we’ve gone back to our roots with good old-fashioned pond hopping for big largemouth bass, mudfish and everything in between.

Pond hopping was something we enjoyed as kids throughout our years living in Florida. Florida has the perfect conditions for catching bass and they are plentiful, even in your own backyard.

Over hanging trees, brush, cattails and structure are the areas we tend to target during this time of year. These areas hold warmth and protection where the bass and fish want to reside most of the day.

Shiners, soft plastics and deeper running lures are great to entice a bass of nominal size to eat. They are lazy and a bit lethargic, so an easy meal is ideal. Baitfish and critters will perform nicely for a slow-moving bass. All you have to do is flip it and twitch it! This will definitely produce a great fishing experience from any bank of the multitude of ponds, lakes and rivers you can find. So, get out and bring the family for a memorable trip. Good vibes & tight lines always!
