Success Shines on the 6th Annual Port Salerno Seafood Festival

port_salerno_seafood_festSTUART , FL — Mother Nature and good fortune shined upon on the 6th Annual Port Salerno Seafood Festival attracting an estimated crowd of 35,000, matching 2011 numbers.

Edward “Butch” Olsen, Jr., president of the Port Salerno Commercial Fishing Dock Authority, set the record straight that a decision has not yet been made on whether the popular one day event would move to two days in 2013.

“I know that it has been reported that we will be extending this to a two day event next year. The reality is that this decision has not yet been made and will be determined by the Board of Directors and the members of the Port Salerno Commercial Fishing Dock Authority,” said Olsen.

Olsen cited concern on impacting the fisherman, their families and the neighbors of the waterfront community for a second day and said this will carry the most weight when making the final determination on whether to expand the duration of the 2013 festival.

The Port Salerno Seafood Festival is owned by the Port Salerno Commercial Fishing Dock Authority, a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to preserving the heritage and integrity of the Commercial Fishing Industry in Port Salerno. Event organizers proudly boast that the festival serves locally caught fish, when possible, and that the majority of the seafood is prepared by the fishermen and their families.
