Table Fare

As we all have heard the April Showers bring May Flowers. It also brings swift and high water. Trout fishing in Maggie Valley has been spotty and really been kind of tough to work the swift current in J creek.

So, wanting to eat some fresh fish, we headed to Lake Junaluska for the tasty panfish. Much to my surprise, the bass were hitting well and the perch are on the beds. Crickets and red wigglers did the job. Tiring a little, I used a broke back Rapala and snagged a couple of bass. The angler close to me humbled me quick with live minnows on the bass. He had one, weighing at least four pounds, and a couple of three pounders.

The latter part of May and first of June should be awesome fishing. And just maybe my local trout waters will calm down a bit. Keep your reels dry and lines wet ya’ll!
