The morning bite has been best, but if you can get on the lake late in the afternoon without getting run off by a thunderstorm, it can be just as productive. Shiner fishing has been steady with catches on half day trips up to 40 bass a morning, with a few fish up to the 8-pound range.Capt. Eddie PerryOct 1st, 2015
October is my favorite month for fishing the Treasure Coast due to the abundance of bait in the Indian and St. Lucie River. In the surf there will be acres of mullet in tight schools getting pounded by sharks, tarpon, snook, jacks and early arrivals of blues and mackerel.Capt. John YoungOct 1st, 2015
The tarpon bite will be on, so get ready for a fight of a lifetime. These fish will be from the beach outward to a mile or two off the beach. Big tarpon are very strong fighters so you will need to use some heavier gear.Capt. Danny MarkowskiOct 1st, 2015
Snook fishing should also be good for anglers fishing the deeper holes around and in the Fort Pierce inlet, the turning basin and also the bridges. A mullet, pinfish, pigfish or a croaker will be the baits of choice.Capt. Joe WardOct 1st, 2015
Historically, as fall gets under way, diving in October is great provided an eye is kept on the weather. Cold fronts have a tendency to shake up local waters making lobsters walk and rearranging fish on local reefs leading to great opportunities to see some action offshore.Steve WoodOct 1st, 2015
The pompano bite has been pretty good just outside the inlet to the south at the monster hole. The pompano can be caught using sand fleas, clams, or my favorite, the goofy jig. I like a ¼-ounce with pink and white. You have to use ultra-light gear to cast the jigs and 10-pound test is the way to go.Capt. Bill StewartOct 1st, 2015
Sebastian Inlet has been producing slot and oversized redfish and snook both day and night since the season opened September first, and should be even better in October. Both jetties have been producing snook and reds for anglers using live croakers and pigfish.Capt. Gus BruggerOct 1st, 2015
Redfish have continued to be a wonderful fishery for us again this year. Each year has seen their population increase and many anglers have enjoyed the experience of fishing a large school of reds this year. October will continue to be a productive month for those who seek redfish on the flats.Capt. Charlie ConnerOct 1st, 2015
