Sebastian Inlet Offshore Fishing Report and Forecast: April 2015

Spring will bring calmer seas and the first strong dolphin run. That's right, it's time to dust off the trolling rods. Let's hope for light east winds. These conditions will allow weed lines to stack up, offering prime conditions for some fast paced action. Trolling right on the solid side of weed lines at around 7 to 7.5 knots with skirted ballyhoo is a proven tactic. Have several spinning rods rigged with live bait hooks and jigs. Mar 24th, 2015

Redfish and trout will become more active around the flats. They will be shallow early and gradually move to the edges of the flats as the sun get higher in the sky. Look to areas like Bear Point, Harbor Branch and Round Island for trout to be feeding on the flats. On a calm morning, break out the top water lures and switch to jerk baits, like a D.O.A. C.A.L. 4” Arkansas Glow or Watermelon. Mar 23rd, 2015

Stuart, Florida Offshore Fishing Report and Forecast: April 2015

Good dolphin fishing should continue through this month and the next, with a shot at a wahoo every now and then while you’re offshore. Trolling is a good way to target these fish in the spring. Skirted ballyhoo, artificial lures and daisy chains work well for the mahi, while a split tail mullet, or ballyhoo rigged on wire and fished on a downrigger or a planner will be your ticket to success for the wahoo.Mar 23rd, 2015

Stuart, Florida Inshore Fishing Report and Forecast: April 2015

More bait fish are in the river, which will result in hungry fish. In the St. Lucie River you can’t beat snook fishing around the Roosevelt Bridge with a D.O.A. Terror Eyz #304 or #416. Let the lure sink to the bottom and bounce it back really slow just off the bottom using the tide to swing the lure back towards the pilings. Mar 23rd, 2015
