Swain County High School’s fishing club, The Swainglers, recently fished Tuckasegee River Catch and Release Waters. We enjoyed a break in the middle of the school day fishing on a warm, autumn day in the fresh mountain air. Club period happens once a month for a short amount of time but we made every minute count! It’s a nice change of pace from sitting at a desk hitting the books. Students return to school energized and ready to face the rest of the day.
One of my favorite things about the fishing club is when we return to school and the kids are getting off the bus and I hear “Thank you Mrs. Parris, that was fun!” Hearing and seeing how much the students love it and the smiles on their faces, makes it all worth it!
