[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he October Junior Division tournament had lots of fish, but you could say it was a catfish tournament with a few other species thrown in! Of the 21 fish caught, all but 4 were catfish.
Anglers with non-catfish catches included Cameron Hicks with a 1.07-pound flounder. Kaleb Kniep caught an eel. Jeff Stier hooked a 2.13-pound stingray. And, Nicholas Rosario caught a 3.11-pound redfish, a first for Nicholas.
RESULTS
1st Place: Nicholas Rosario. Fairlawn Elementary, Ft. Pierce
2nd Place: Dayton Franqui, Oak Hammock, Port St. Lucie
3rd Place: Ciara Franqui, Oak Hammock, Port St. Lucie
Biggest Fish went to Nicholas for his 3.11-pound redfish. Along with his trophy, Nicholas received a Fishing Center gift card, which was donated by volunteers Pat and Gwen.
In October, we also welcomed several new Casters to the group: Dayton and Ciara Franqui, Connor Rohrbough, and Jett and Landon Stier.
Last, many thanks to Treasure Coast Casters Tammy, Savannah and Dorothy for holding the tournament in October. Capt. Ward and I were away on a much needed vacation—making this only the third tournament missed in 15 years!
Look for our December tournament results in the January 2016 issue of Coastal Angler Magazine!
