[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ummer is the best time to fish. If you have no boat, no problem—snook will be near docks, all along the beaches, catwalks, bridges and flats. June through October are great times to target a trophy snook and Martin County is the area to do it. It is closed season for snook, so please use circle hooks and handle the fish with care as well.
Snook love moving water so find an area where there is steady moving water and fish the tides. Morning and night are your best bets to catch big and a lot of snook. Use any kind of lure that looks like a mullet and you will have no trouble catching.
Tarpon fishing will get better every month right before the bait run. Look for tarpon around the bridges at night, and make sure you fish the tide. Moving water is the best. Tarpon love to hang out under the bridges and near deep drop offs so look for places that have these elements. Inlets are great because they have both. Beaches will have some of the biggest tarpon that you can catch, so use heavy gear.
Waders will have great time during the summer because they can catch a lot fish. Cajun Thunder popping cork with a live shrimp can’t be beat. Great places are flats that have grass and fish under the docks. Have a great Fourth of July and tight lines!
