Venice Inshore Forecast: April 2014

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]e are finally rolling into spring and as the water temp heats up so should the fishing. Fishing lately has been good but inconsistent. The Miss River is at 9ft and will continue to rise. Blind Bay, Garden Isle Bay, South Pass will be on fire.

What I like about Blind Bay is that there are so many places to fish. There are plenty of pockets, points and shorelines that should produce quality fish. As I’m approaching a point I like to troll and fish my way to the point. There are still stubbles of canes underneath the water and can hold fish. Also if your in muddy water check your prop wash because you could have clean water underneath. Most of our fish have come on a gulp with a chartreuse tail under a cork.

The trout have not been thick. Mixed boxes of 10- 20 have been common. The trout are still in transition. When the water temp warms up more you should start seeing limits of trout. Blind Bay and South Pass is where you want to target. Live shrimp is important but if you like just plastics then the Vudu shrimp and Matrix lemon shad have proven success.
