Why Knot Fishing

By Joe Gugino

March is a funny month for fishing in New England; the ice is here but on it’s way out, and open water isn’t quite here yet.  January and February were filled with big fishing shows, and there are still a few more good ones left!  This month there is the Plum Island Surfcasters show on March 12.  I will giving a presentation on Kayak Fishing for big stripers, and hope you can make it.

We, at Why Knot Fishing, have been pumped to run our 2nd annual winter event series called Why Knot Wednesdays.  These informal meet-ups are a way to get fishermen together in the winter to talk about fishing, learn some new tactics and strategies, as well as have the chance to win some sweet fishing prizes in our free raffles.  January was our Saltwater Fishing Night, February was our Freshwater Fishing night, and this month we will have our Fly Fishing Night on Wednesday March 9.  We hold these events at Red’s Kitchen + Tavern in Peabody, MA on Rt. 1 from 6:30-8:30pm.  Even if you are not a fly fisherman, we still encourage you to come!

This month we are going to present the “March of Fly Fishing” centered around our Fly Fishing night on March 9th. We will kick off the month with a Fly Tying Night at Capefish Outfitters in Wenham, MA on Wednesday night May 2nd, followed by Fly Fishing Night the next week.  Then on Tuesday, March 15th we will be co-hosting the Fly Fishing Film Tour in Boston at the Greatest Bar.  This is a night you don’t want to miss, whether you are a fisherman or not. And then we will wrap-up with another Fly Tying Night at Capefish Outfitters on Wednesday, March 23rd.

In between going to these awesome events, and getting ready for the season to start, make sure you go check us out on our website.  We are coming out with something big for this year, and we want you to be a part of it!
