Drake Bay Fishing Report January 2016

Drake Bay Costa Rica Fishing Report January 2016

Although the sailfish took their time getting to the Drake Bay Area, they are here now and in good numbers. We are averaging 15-25 bites per day. With the water slightly warmer, all species have moved to a little cooler and deeper water.

When you hit the incoming tide right, the Roosterfish in this area are red hot.  Drake Bay is well known for having very large Roosters.  It’s not uncommon for our clients to catch this magnificent species in the 30-50 lb. range. We are also seeing good numbers of small to midsize grouper in 250-400 feet of water.
