Drake Bay and Sierpe River Fishing Forecast February and March 2016

Drake Bay and Sierpe River Fishing Forecast February and March 2016

February and March are great months for billfish in the Drake Bay area. You will find sailfish, blue, black and striped marlin all 20 miles from shore. The deep blue water will be attracting many schools of fish that these billfish love to snack on.

Near the coast sardines spots will be present along with mackerel, snapper and roosters among others. These months are ideal for those who enjoy fishing with live bait or surface lures.

Groupers, Cubera snappers, silk snapper and red snappers will be present in different areas with rocky bottoms from 100 feet deep which attracts jigging lovers.

Finally, in the Sierpe River salt concentration in the water will be higher due to the lack of rain which will encourage species such as the queen corvina and goliath grouper to enter mangroves. Also, the lack of rain will make the waters of River clean and have the best conditions for a good day of fishing.
