CARL LEGETT MEMORIAL FISHING TOURNAMENT AND THE CCA’S “CASTING FOR CONSERVATION”
This year marked the 19th Annual event for the Carl Legett Memorial Fishing Tournament. It drew a record of 553 anglers competing in freshwater, nearshore and offshore categories. The event is hosted by the Home Builders Association of MS Coast (HBAMC) and benefited the non-profit for Abused Women and Children. The event directors, chairman and weigh master put on a memorable event, which included, in addition to the tournament, a bikini contest, children’s fishing outing and shrimp boil.
Travis Moore of Citizens Bank and Home Builder Board Director is thankful to all that participated, “I want to thank all our sponsors for their support, attendance and interest in the 19th Annual Carl Legett Memorial Fishing Tournament.” Travis adds, “The most important memory of the year is seeing over 100 volunteers working for four days in almost unbearable heat to make this event a total success.”
Prize money paid to the winners of the fishing tournament exceeded $25,000 and the tournament raffled off over $5,000 in door prizes. Next year the 20th anniversary will surely be one for the ages!
