Florida’s sun shined brightly over the St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce’s 20th Fishing Frenzy, held Saturday, May 14, 2016, bringing in 147 boats, a ten-year high, to St. Lucie’s waters.

Calm waters proved to be the ultimate catching catalyst as more than 50 boats brought in fish for weigh-in.

Capt. Laird Summerlin and angler Robert Conley made their way to the stage where their 33.5-pound dolphin inched out the competition to claim the first place $10,000.

Capt. Jessica Manuel and angler Jeremy Patterson took home the second place $3,000 prize with a 32.3-pounder, Capt. Josh Tripp and angler Ryan Gutshaw’s 31.00-pounder earned the third place $2,000 prize, and Capt. Mike Bartus and angler Shelly Hutter took home the $1,000 fourth place prize with a 25.95-pound dolphin.

Jessica Manuel took the Lady Angler $250 prize with a respectable 26.30-pound dolphin, while James Ivey took the Junior Angler $100 prize with a 22.55-pounder.

Next year’s 21st Annual St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Fishing Frenzy will take place Friday, May 12th and Saturday, May 13th of 2017.
