The Gene Doyle Memorial Foundation was created to honor the memory and adventurous spirit of Robert Eugene “Gene” Doyle, III (1976-1996). Each year, the foundation awards three Gene Doyle Adventure Scholarships, which help deserving Collier County students to un- dertake the adventures of their dreams.
The excitement of daily living,
The challenge of a wild adventure,
A love for the land and sea, people and animals, A keen awareness of one’s surroundings,
The pure joy of shing and hiking,
Of laughing and learning –
This is the spirit of Gene Doyle.
Simply put, it is the goal of the Gene Doyle Memorial Foundation to keep Gene’s spirit alive by cultivating and supporting kindred spirits who share his love of life and nature. The Foundation was established shortly after Gene’s death in November 1996 with a gift from one of Gene’s close friends. The idea of an Adventure Scholarship was conceived shortly thereafter, and the Fishing Tournament emerged as a perfect fundraising event.
The Foundation would like to offer sincere thanks to those who have given from their hearts. Your donations allowed us to offer exceptional opportunities to over 60 unique individuals with Gene Doyle Adventure Scholarships in the last 20 years. We are very pleased to offer additional scholarships with the added resources brought in by the annual Fishing Tournament.
