S pring is finally here on the banks of the Pere Marquette River. The snow has melted and recent rains have brought the river levels up. The spike in water level will bring some fresh steelhead. Up until now the PM was still fi shing like winter with mostly fall and winter steelhead in the river.
Now the water has warmed up and most of the fish can be found around gravel areas, small pockets, and runs. For flies, it’s been bigger Clown Eggs, Flashy Parr, and Leech patterns. Look for streamer fishing to heat up as thewater and air temperatures warm up. For swinging or on the strip try baitfish patterns in white/blue, olive/gold or black/copper. For more on the river and fly patterns check out my site at outfittersnorth.com.
Good luck out there.
