I will be the first to admit, that none of our guides are right in the head. We spend way too much time in the sun, don’t eat right and certainly don’t get enough sleep. We do however get to act like fools during Mardi Gras and of course HALLOWEEN!!!
It has kinda become an unwritten rule the last couple of years, if you book a trip on Oct 31, you better bring a costume – or one will be provided. As luck would have it, the weather cooperated and we had a very fun crew out at the Cat Island house for a little Halloween fun. We did have to fight some insanely low water out at the island, but we made it work. We did more on the red fish than the trout. We actually ate the majority of the trout we caught(it was delicious). We did get visited by the big bull reds, and plenty of slot sized fish. I honestly think that Chef Chris and The Mayor of Cat Island, Walter Gaudin, had more fun with the costumes than anyone. It was fun!
While we were goofing off out at the island, the other guides were doing some damage on the day trips. We got to hear some of the crews on the VHF radio. It Sounded like Captains Matt and Captain Darren had a very lively crew out in the LA Marsh. The boys have been doing well on the trout, reds, sheepshead and black drum. From the looks of the pictures they have been sending, it seems they have been very busy at the cleaning tables at the Shore Thing dock in Bayou Caddy.
Did get to hear from our buddy Bradley over at the Gulf Coast Research Lab. He said that the triple tails we caught over the last couple months are doing very well at the hatchery. Cant wait to see what those fish do in the coming months/years.
We really enjoy this time of year, its just being able to fish in between the fronts. We are very much looking forward to this years fall fishing. If yall wanna wet a line, give us a shout, and hopefully we can get ya’ll out there. – Thanks for reading!
