In the days leading up to Labor Day 2019, most of us in South Florida were sitting in lines at gas stations and grocery stores as the threat of a direct hit from Hurricane Dorian loomed large. Though the future path was still unpredictable, it appeared that we would be dodging a bullet. Unfortunately, our neighbors in the Abacos and Grand Bahama were not so lucky. I am proud of our local community coming together so quickly to send much needed aid to the affected islands. Read about how our community took the bull by the horns to make a difference in this month’s feature article by Trae West from Big Dog Tackle in Pompano Beach. Thank you to everyone that donated your boat, time, money and supplies. Shout out to Hooker Electric, Preferred Marine, Reel Deal Bait & Tackle, Capt. Skipper Gentry of Carolina Gentleman Sportfishing and Capt. Tony Digiulian of Saltwater Professional Consulting for helping to lead our fishing and boating community.
Here at home, there is a very special event on the horizon. On October 18th, Mission Fishin’ will host their annual fundraising event, the Golden Reel Gala. Mission Fishin’ is a local non profit organization founded by Tony and Alison Davis. Mission Fishin’ provides special needs children, their families and caregivers a break from daily hardships and stress through fishing. Mission Fishin’ relies upon volunteers and donations to make the wheel turn. Please consider purchasing a ticket or two to attend the Golden Reel Gala and support the wonderful cause of Mission Fishin’.
Keep reelin,
