Key West Sailfish Tournament

World-class teams converged on the sparkling blue waters of Key West and the Lower Keys for a two day shoot out style tournament in March, battling it out for the top of the leaderboard and prize money bringing teams from all over Florida and beyond recently. The Key West Sailfish Tournament is a tournament destination on any avid angler’s calendar, and this year’s event was no exception with 25 boats and 188 Anglers participating and recording over 140
Sailfish releases!

Congratulations to the Winning Team “Roughshot”
with prize winnings of $140,000.00!
Top Male Angler went to Jason Maret of the Roughshot crew and the Top Female Angler award went to Rosalie (Roe) Apostoleres of Team Roenick. In the Top Junior Angler category (16 & under) the winner was Kolton Clausen of Team Back N Down.
This tournament also donated $18,000 to its charity Voices for Florida Keys Children, which is an all-volunteer organization, and is dedicated to the betterment of the lives of the abandoned, abused and neglected children in Monroe County. For over 35 years our mission has been to help the children under the supervision of the 16th judicial circuit in the Florida Keys. These children, innocent victims, are in the state judicial system through no fault of their own.
Working closely with court-appointed, trained volunteer guardians, Voices assists with the education, health, and social well-being of these children, and their goal is to assure their basic every day needs are met.
Congratulations to all who participated and we look forward to next year’s event!
