As many of you know, Downtown Sanford Florida was flooded during Hurricane Ian. Marina Isle was underwater right where the marina operations sit. Since then, Downtown Sanford Marina has gone through an amazing number of changes and upgrades. New is the word of choice – new dry storage racks, new ships store, new management, and now boaters and anglers can grab ice/beer/wine and bait and tackle when they use the downtown boat ramp! Congratulations to them, the store and improvements look great. Stop by and check it out.
Downtown Sanford Marina is owned by the City of Sanford and is professionally managed by F3 Marina. “We have come a long way since Ivan!”, says Evans Mulligan their general manager. “We have a new facility now and our fully trained professional staff are focused on providing a memorable experience to our boaters, guests, and clients.” Part of the work during the year- long reconstruction was the dock system. All docks and floating docks have been meticulously gone through and maintained since the big storm. This attention to detail is not new. Downtown Sanford Marina was the first marina in Florida to achieve Clean Marina, Clean Boatyard, and Clean Retailer designations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Their Central Florida location is excellent – 15 minutes from downtown Orlando by car. From Sanford, head north on Palmetto Avenue. By water, Lake Monroe rests along the St Johns River international waterway. You could drive your boat north to Jacksonville from the marina but be sure to fuel up with their ethanol free gasoline first.
