[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Alabama Gulf Coast has experienced unusually cold weather in February. We sure hope March brings us some real spring weather. Not sure how the cooler water temps will affect the Spanish mackerel. There should be some bull redfish around in March. Sheepshead should be around the rocks and on nearshore wrecks.
Vermillion snapper, white snapper and triggerfish may be deeper than 100 feet of water due to the water temps. Amberjack will be a good fish to target. Remember, grouper season will be closed in March. March is a transition period from Winter to Spring, so be patient fishing during this month.
Yellowfin tuna and wahoo are being caught well offshore at the rigs beyond 60 miles. Find a good window of weather and head offshore.

Costa Rica Fishing:
February fishing out of Quepos was outstanding. A 15-20 sailfish per day average has been experienced off Quepos. A few mahi mahi have also been caught with many in the 30- 40 pound range and larger. The marlin bite has slowed a bit sine early January. Expect March to be similar to February with a great sailfish bite, good mahi mahi bite, rooster fish, jacks, mackerel and more.
