June means the bluewater scene should be in full swing. It looks like its shaping up to be a good summer out deep. The floaters and rip lines have started teaming with mahi and marlin already. The yellowfin tuna should soon become more predictable at the rigs. The live bait has started showing up in good numbers.
The bluewater has been in fairly close so far. I hope it continues this trend. Anything found floating in clean water at the edges of the color change should get you some bites throughout the summer. Make sure your tackle is up to par with fresh line. A big marlin or tuna will certainly find any shortcomings in knots or line. Bluewater fishing can be a major test in patience at times, but can turn on like a light switch when the bite kicks off.
Tight Lines,
Capt. Mark Smith.
