Finish Strong for Gamefish Bill!

Dear Saltwater Angler,

It appears that the House vote on HB353 will come soon!! FINALLY! That means we are at the critical juncture with HB 353, the “gamefish bill”. We want to see movement soon, so we need to mount an email/phone call campaign to the leaders in the House.

We no longer have weeks to work on this. We are down to days, maybe even hours. Please do this now! We need to mobilize as quickly as we can to contact our state representatives and our senators as well. Since things can happen very quickly, the bill could be in the senate within days, and therefore the need to start contacting members of the senate!  Make sure you contact your state senator now!

First, email and call your local representative and senator one more time. Tell them that we have waited patiently for this day to come, and now we need them to step up and support HB353! Make sure you put “please vote for HB353” in the subject line of your email.

An easy way to email your legislators is to go to the gamefish website at the following link. There you will find an alphabetical county-by-county list. Go to your county and you will see your state representatives and senators with their email link right beside their names. Just click on the blue link and send them the email. Here is the link…http://ncgamefish.blogspot.com/2011/03/contact-your-nc-state-legislator-and.html

Once you email and call your legislators, we need to send special emails to the House Speaker, Thom Tillis, and to the Senate President Pro Tempore, Phil Berger. These two men have the power to speed the bill along, and we need to encourage them to do so. Here are their email links: Thom.tillis@ncleg.net, and phil.berger@ncleg.net.

We are approaching the finish line and we need to finish strong! Please take a few minutes and do this right now. Please forward this email to anyone you know that want to see red drum, speckled trout, and striped bass protected as “gamefish” in NC coastal waters!

Here’s to gamefish in NC!!

Sincerely,

Dean Phillips
