Bass and crappie fishing since early December has been on the upswing due to the cooler air temperatures from the north. Now that water temps have lowered, the spawning has kicked in gear and will continue each month with the full and new moon phase bringing some big bag limits of bass to the scales and people filling their limits of Specks.
If you’re targeting the crappie bite, the cold snaps kicks them in gear and makes for a fun-filled day of fishing and catching, minus lots of wind of course. The entire North-shore of Okeechobee is great fishing, especially this time of year. There is a lot of water to cover for bass and crappie, so give other boaters their space.
