The Post Salerno Commercial Fishing Dock Authority presents the 8th Annual Port Salerno Seafood Festival on Saturday, January 25th, 2014. This locally produced event, which in 2013 was voted the “Best Local Event in Martin County” by Scripps Treasure Coast Newspaper readers, features seafood and a mix of music, arts, crafts, local business vendors, a Kids Fun Zone, mermaids, pirates and more, all along the historic Port Salerno waterfront.
“There is a reason why the seafood is so delicious,” says Edward “Butch” Olsen, Jr., president of the Port Salerno Commercial Fishing Dock Authority. “We serve the freshest seafood and locally caught fish when possible. The majority of our seafood is prepared by the fishermen and their families. This is truly a family affair, which also combines Port Salerno’s finest restaurants.”
Some of the top bands from across the Treasure Coast will entertain the crowds from two stage.
Festival hours are 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Complimentary transportation to and from the event via trolley or water will be provided.
A portion of festival proceeds is distributed each year to local charities.
The producer of the one-day festival, The Port Salerno Seafood Festival, Inc. is a not-for-profit trade association, which is dedicated to preserving the heritage and integrity of the Commercial Fishing Industry in Port Salerno. The event attracts 35,000 attendees and takes 600 people (mostly volunteers) to set up, serve refreshments, sell tickets and t-shirts, and perform other supportive tasks. Volunteers and sponsor inquiries are welcomed.
